Photography contests?

Hi,
I’ve been doing photography for about a year, I’m in high school and this is my main focus. I’d like to find a few photography contests to enter. The few that I have entered turned out to be scams. So any good ideas? And if anyone has photography tips, please tell me. If you know any good sites to find canon cameras would be good too.

It would probably be in your best interest to pick up some magazines (Pop Photo, Outdoor Photo, etc.) and page through them. The contests they have (monthly) will challenge you and give you awards (publicity) if you qualify as even a runner-up in any of their contests. You don’t have to be in first place to get published but… you do have to be competitive with a very good image.
